When enjoying a day on Whistler and Blackcomb mountains, it is not uncommon to travel from +10 to -40 in the span of a few hours. So layer-up and always stay comfortable.
Your family wakes up in the morning, you get the kids dressed and grab some breakfast. After breakfast you pile on the jackets, snow pants and gear and head for the mountain. You make your first few runs and the mercury drops well below 0 with wind chill. At lunch the kids strip off a few layers for a bite to eat and hot chocolate at the Rendevous. In the afternoon the sun gods decide to shine, the temperature warms and the kids unzip.
Because of the varied temperatures and weather conditions don’t overlook the importance of a complete base-layer to keep the kids warm and comfortable no matter what the weather. A good base layer consists of long underwear, a short and/or long sleeved undershirt and some good quality socks. Base layers provide insulation and moisture wicking and are important when going indoors and outdoors throughout your day on the mountain. At Fun For Kids we carry brands such as Spyder, Hot Chillies and Icebreakers. Mastering the art of layering is a skill passed on from generation to generation here in Whistler and at Fun For Kids we have acquired the skill and are happy to share it with you and your family.
