Located at the base of Blackcomb Mountain the Family Adventure Zone features a range of activities for kids of all ages. An alpine experience ticket will buy you a ride on several open-air chairlifts and gondolas on Whistler and Blackcomb Mountain including the famous Peak 2 Peak Gondola. The Peak 2 Peak, which towers 1427 feet in the air and spans a distance of 4.4 kilometres, is the world’s longest and highest gondola ride. While on the Peak 2 Peak enjoy expansive views of volcanic peaks and West Coast rainforest; you will also have the chance to spot a bear from above, get a behind the scenes look at the gondola mechanics and access 50km of alpine hiking trails.
If you are looking for some adrenaline then take the family on a Whistler Zipline Tour. Choose from a range of ziplines that will see you flying through tree tops, gliding over spectacular creeks and learning about Whistler’s unique ecology and wildlife. As of summer 2015 try the new Sasquatch Zipline which travels a whopping 2km from Blackcomb to Whistler mountain- total exhilaration!
Whether you are after calm rapids or raging rivers there is white water rafting to suite all ages and experience levels. What better way to spend a hot summer’s day then rafting down glacier-melt rivers amongst some of the most pristine forests in the world? Whether you are after challenging rapids or breath-taking scenery there is a white water rafting tour to suit your family.
OK so maybe extreme rapids aren’t your thing. Take your pick of rental water crafts to suit your fancy. Explore one of the many lakes and rivers around Whistler via a tour or independently with your family. Canoe or Kayak trips on the River of Golden Dreams are popular with tourists and are a great way to bask in the beautiful mountain scenery.
This one will be a hit with the kids! Explore the back country, manoeuvre the terrain on Whistler or Blackcomb Mountain or race along old logging roads. Whether you prefer a slower paced tour or an extreme alpine adventure there is something for all experience and thrill levels.
What better place to try Bungee Jumping then the adventure capital of Whistler BC? Take the plunge from a bridge situated 160 feet above the glacial-fed Cheakamus River. Surrounded by ancient forests and stunning mountains this is one of the most unique bungee jumping settings in the world. Kids under 19 need the consent of a parent to jump.
Upset you missed out on the winter ski/snowboarding season? Just can’t wait a few more months until the snow returns? You are in luck! Hortsman Glacier on Blackcomb Mountain is open all summer long for skiing and riding. Imagine blue skies, soft snow and T-shirt conditions. Recommended for intermediate and advanced skiers.
Crankworx is a nine day Freestyle Mountain biking event and festival held between August 7th and 16th 2015. Kidsworx is a series of children’s bike races and events within the larger festival. Featured in Kidsworx there are run-bike races for toddlers and pre-schoolers, a Village Circuit for the older kids and competitive races for the more experienced riders. This will be a great event to spectate or participate in!
Bounce is an indoor trampoline park and is great for kids of all ages. The park features floor to ceiling trampolines, a foam pit and a ballroom. Bounce is a great place to stop on your way into Whistler to burn some energy after a long drive and is also a fun place to spend a rainy day or to beat the heat.
Embrace the biking culture of Whistler Blackcomb and register your school aged kids in a DFX Bike Camp. Your children will learn the fundamentals of downhill mountain biking at the world famous Whistler Mountain Bike Park. These camps are great for experienced and first time riders.
This unique activity zone features a huge indoor climbing area as well as a gym and yoga studio. Whistler Core offers day camps for kids as well as daily climbing classes for children four and up. For an evening experience children six and up can participate in a climb and dine program.
Spend some time at the outdoor skate park located on Blackcomb Way behind Whistler Village. Let the kids burn some energy on their skateboards or BMX bikes.
This world class bike park has terrain for complete beginners to double black advanced riders. This is a great place to spend the day with the family. Hit the jumps at the bike park, check out the Air Dome which is an 8400 square foot indoor training facility with foam pits or explore one of the many zones at the park suited to your experience level.
A classic family friendly activity why not explore the lush meadows and glaciers or alpine terrain on the back of a horse. Group or private tours are available and suitable for people of all riding abilities.
